Sherry Willis was Associate Dean for four years, and led the Core Track at Leadership Institute of Seattle (LIOS) for five years. She has over 20 years' experience in adult education and training. She was a founding faculty of the LIOS undergraduate completion program, which she led for seven years. Since 1988 she has maintained a private psychotherapy practice in Seattle where she works with individuals and couples.
The processes that allow us to change hold deep interest for Ms. Willis.
She is engaged with the adult development theory of Robert Kegan of Harvard. She is using this theory to conduct a pre- post- study of graduate students to find out how far the LIOS educational experience advances complexity of thinking, and therefore leadership capacity.
Ms. Willis has consulted with individuals and organizations on issues of leadership development and change for many years. Recently she created and helped deliver curriculum for a long-term leadership development project in a health care system. In 2003 Ms. Willis trained with Robert Kegan in the powerful “Immunity to Change” workshop, allowing individuals and teams to get “unstuck.” She believes we free up tremendous energy when we can shift our perspective on ourselves, allowing choices that were previously unimaginable.
Ms. Willis brings the most effective tools from all dimensions of her work to her clients. For the past two years she has presented a challenging workshop on “Leadership As the Conscious Use of Self” at the International Leadership Association Conference. She enjoys designing learning experiences that move groups to new levels of functioning.
