Phyllis Romano joined the Leadership Institute of Seattle faculty in 1999. She is the Faculty Program Lead in the Winter program; teaches in the Systems Counseling track; and coordinates internship placements for LIOS. She has a psychotherapy practice in Bellevue where she works with individuals, couples and families. She also provides consultation and coaching to individuals and organizations.
Phyllis is a clinical specialist in adult psychiatric and mental health nursing with over thirty years experience in inpatient, day treatment and out patient settings. She was a psychotherapist and clinical supervisor for 22 years at Group Health Cooperative’s Behavioral Health Service. She was in charge of professional training for GHC’s BHS. Her interest in research led her to join the team at GHC’s Center for Health Studies, investigating relapse prevention in chronic and recurrent depression. Phyllis is particularly interested in systems thinking and current research about interpersonal neurobiology and the efficacy of psychotherapy. A life-long educator, she is fascinated with the use of self, and the therapeutic relationship to promote healing.
